Futurebit, a smaller blockchain technology company dedicated to providing cutting edge decentralized hardware and software solutions has announced a new lineup of litecoin miners at the recent Litecoin Summit. The larger Apollo Pod and the smaller MoonLander 2
Futurebit is based in Brooklyn, NY and has been in operation since 2015. These two new miners are the latest in their product lineup:
The Apollo Pod is the larger of the two costing $274 for 100–140MH/s of scrypt performance and is the most energy efficient scrypt miner to date at 1W/MH in ECO mode, and 1.4W/MH in TURBO. Other competators can offer more hash for a similar price but perhaps the money saved on electricity costs may just be enough to entice miners to buy the Apollo Pod. Futurebit state:
“The Apollo project is the culmination of years of engineering we have learned with our Moonlander platform, and was designed from the ground up to be a miner anyone can run easily on their desktop at home or office. Apollo has its own integrated ARM based quad core controller, requiring no external computer to run, and can be managed over a simple wifi connection! The power of this integrated platform will allow us to deliver future updates that will extend the functionality of the miner.”
The Apollo pod is currently on pre-order and will begin shipping in October, for more information vist the store page
The MoonLander2 is the follow up to Futurebit’s first USB miner and aims more for the hobbyist who wants to test out mining on a small scale without putting up the large investment for a dedicated rig. Its fun and more of a novelty item. Plug it into your PC and leave it to run in the background. Futurebit have guides on their website for setting up the device, so is in many ways the perfect way to try out and get introduced to mining .The MoonLander2 reaches about 5MH/s at 10W
The Moonlander 2 is built with the latest generation 28nm scrypt ASIC at its core, and uses the highest quality voltage controllers and components to ensure stable efficient 24/7 operation needed for cryptocurrency mining. It also features a fully custom designed pin heatsink and fan forced induction cooling solution, which is an industry first for a USB miner, and allows quiet cool operation at maximum frequencies with no external cooling solutions needed. The miner is designed to run out of the box with no adjustments, but offers full clock and voltage control for people that love to tinker!
The MoonLander2 is available to purchase right now for $49 a unit. For more information vist the store page
We have not been paid for this article and we bought our own MoonLander2 to review from Futurebit at the recent Litecoin Summit.
